OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma's unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent in October, the lowest rate since April of this year.
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reports seasonal growth in the retail trade and government industry sectors fueled most of the growth.
Retail trade saw a 1,500-job gain in October as stores started gearing up for the holidays, and nearly five-thousand jobs were added in government industry, most of which are seasonal jobs at public schools and universities.
In Oklahoma, Coal County in southeast Oklahoma reported the highest unemployment rate at 5.9 percent, followed by Hughes and McCurtain counties at 5.4 percent.
Roger Mills and Woodward counties in western Oklahoma had the state's lowest unemployment rate at 2.5 percent.
