Small business employees often go without health insurance. Maybe their employer can’t afford it. And, maybe they can’t afford it either. That's where the Insure Oklahoma comes can help. It's a subsidy that pays for 60-percent or more of a small business employee's health insurance premium.
The money for the program comes from the state’s tobacco tax and federal funds. Small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees, who meet income requirements, can qualify.
For those who are eligible, the savings are amazing.
"I have a grocery store who has employees that are paying around $6.35/week for unbelievable health insurance in rural Oklahoma. How do you not take advantage of that?" said insurance agent Angela Ritchie.
