Clanton's Café in Vinita has been featured in ‘Gourmet Magazine,’ and now it'll be on the Food Network. The News On 6’s Rick Wells reports the Food Network discovered something many Oklahomans have known for 80-years.

It's a griddle full of chicken fried steaks calling hungry folks to lunch. Clanton's Café has been a regular stop on Route 66 for 80-years. It was a rainy day on Monday, but the parking lot is full, the kitchen hoppin’.

Melissa Patrick is the fourth generation Clanton to operate the restaurant.

"My Great-Grandfather Sweet Tater Clanton started it in 1927," Melissa Patrick of Claton’s Café said.

Farming wasn't working so he opened the restaurant.

"The story goes, when it was time to eat he'd come out and bang on a big pot to let everybody in town know it was time to eat," said Patrick.

They don't have to do that anymore.

"Our customers are fourth and fifth generation customers," Patrick said.

Clanton's is a favorite because they serve home-style comfort food, and lot's of it. Lot's of regulars were curious about the television camera crew in their favorite eatery. The Food Network is featuring Clanton's on a show called ‘Diners, Drive-in and Dives.’ The show airs on The Food Network Monday night at 9, and eight more times in the next month.
